I love this place......we went on a Monday and it wasn't crowded at all, and had a choice to where we wanted to sit. Our waitresses, Reese & Dee were so polite and courteous and always came to check on us. I had the smothered turkey chops, my honey had the oven baked turkey wings, "so damn good, they were falling of the bone" and seasoned so well. My baby girl had ribs & baked mac-n-cheese.....I really liked the cornbread muffins with the strawberry butter, it was the first thing I smelled as we entered the restaurant. Our side dishes were, collards, black-eyed peas, potato salad and rice & gravy. The catfish nuggets were so good. They give you such a big portion, we all had left overs. The atmosphere was calm and I would definitely be going back. Kudos Ms. Tooties!

Ok first of all what restaurant makes you stand outside in the blistering heat to wait for a table? None I know While standing outside I asked the hostess about the parking she points to a sign across the street and tells me to read It...unh??? Maybe she was hot, I mean it was like 98 degrees outside. Upon my arrival I quickly noticed why we had to wait outside! There was No room! Smh. It was over populated and the tables were so close together I had to squeeze by the table next to me knocking over a few items :) Sat down and noticed sweat started dripping from my face! Could there be air in this place! It was soooo Hot in there! I first came out of my suit jacket, then my tie and almost my shirt. Every customer was complaining! When we complained to our waiter he told us they only turn on the air when the employees get there which means it takes time to cool down. Unh? I tbought this was a place of business not a house. I ordered this famous tea I heard about only to receive warm tea which the ice melted right away that taste like powdered tea from Lipton. Plus it was five dollars. Such a watse. The corn muffins came out which were good but why would you serve corn muffins and not offer refills when you get your food. They are an additional charge if you want more. I ordred fried wings, greens and candied yams. My food was cold. Yams where old and over cooked, greens were so salty they gave me a headache as well as the cold fried chicken. The fish my friends order had a weird smell to it...Not good! The waiter Sean was great and replaced my yams with Mac and cheese which taste like kraft mac and cheese from the box! Oh I forgot to mention the food is overpriced and the portions are very small. It only got hotter as the employees argued about the thermostat settting. By the time I left I was soaked from sweat. Needless to say I won't be back and wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone. Very dissapointed! Save your money people! It doesn't live up to all the talk.

I was extremely excited to visit the popular and praised Ms. Tootsie's... I was so very disappointed. The heated restaurant was over populated by, not customers but insects! Flies and gnats swarmed the restaurant. The anticipation of highly recommended items was short lived when we were informed the half the items on the menu were not available. How can a restaurant be out of SHRIMP? The wing dings were likely to have flown off the table with all the feathers that I pulled out. When I mentioned it to the waiter he grabbed the plate of wings and ran off-not offering credit or a replacement. I expressed my displeasure of the meat not being properly prepared to serve and the waiter said he would speak to the manager and nothing else was mentioned about the matter. I must admit that the sauteed fish was the best I've ever had, and kudos for the iced tea but the negatives far outweighed the positives for me.

We went to Ms. Tootsie's for the first time, since we both heard about it and for those that don't know REALLY GOOD soul food, you would be impressed. The menu states 2 sides with an entree, however there's an additional stipulation on some items on the menu that indicates 2 sides at an additional cost. Sweet potato cheesecake was not all that, nor was the lemon pound cake. If I had the passion, I would open up a soul food restaurant myself. Also, if your gonna hang up white curtains, please make sure to clean them, especially the bottom. It's filled with noticable dirt. If you want really good soul food, I would say if you're in NY, you gotta go to the "Shark Bar".
