I was extremely excited to visit the popular and praised Ms. Tootsie's... I was so very disappointed. The heated restaurant was over populated by, not customers but insects! Flies and gnats swarmed the restaurant. The anticipation of highly recommended items was short lived when we were informed the half the items on the menu were not available. How can a restaurant be out of SHRIMP? The wing dings were likely to have flown off the table with all the feathers that I pulled out. When I mentioned it to the waiter he grabbed the plate of wings and ran off-not offering credit or a replacement. I expressed my displeasure of the meat not being properly prepared to serve and the waiter said he would speak to the manager and nothing else was mentioned about the matter. I must admit that the sauteed fish was the best I've ever had, and kudos for the iced tea but the negatives far outweighed the positives for me.

We went to Ms. Tootsie's for the first time, since we both heard about it and for those that don't know REALLY GOOD soul food, you would be impressed. The menu states 2 sides with an entree, however there's an additional stipulation on some items on the menu that indicates 2 sides at an additional cost. Sweet potato cheesecake was not all that, nor was the lemon pound cake. If I had the passion, I would open up a soul food restaurant myself. Also, if your gonna hang up white curtains, please make sure to clean them, especially the bottom. It's filled with noticable dirt. If you want really good soul food, I would say if you're in NY, you gotta go to the "Shark Bar".

I love this place and don't care how long I have to wait...yeah things may be slow but it's worth waiting for..good soul food is hard to find in the city...I am going this Friday with a friend from Jersey..I am sure we will have to wait but so what ..sit at the bar and relax I went on Mothers day's it's was great they were so busy..yeah had to wait but it's Mothers day. I will always recommend the restuarant no restuarnt is perfect for me it's all about the Ice Tea and Fried Chicken..always love going and will continue even if I have a bad waiter or have to wait..love my Tootsies....

Dinner for 2 was only $45! The atmosphere was great, our server and hostess were so kind and attentive. Didn't wait long for our entrees, which were enormous portions. And I'm a choco-holic so we took 2 desserts to go ;) We will def be back!!! Get there early bc it gets packed and they don't take reservations for parties under 8. Totally recommend this restaurant <3

went to ms.tootsie's tonight with my bff, we were told 30mins to be seated...and had to wait outside on the curb in the cold! after 40 mins we went to sit back in the car and waited to b called...1hr and 40 mins went past until we went back to the host and still waited 20 more mins to be seated! we went in and it saddened me to see a bunch of empty tables. we waited 40 more mins for our under seasoned food...which was over priced. for five fried shrimp i pid $10...and $5 for a hand full of mac&cheese! the manager didnt care anything about our complants...very POOR customer service! needless to say NEVER AGAIN!
