I have frequented Ms Tootsie's within the last couple years and I would say unlike normal places they get worse with time. The staff is very welcoming and pleasant. However the food is subpar for starters the mac n cheese taste like kraft and is never warm enough you always have to send it back to get warmed. The smothered turkey chops are no good they taste old. Save yourself the cost of shrimp and grits the grits are straight from a box and the shrimp is bland. The decor is very warm and pretty however the place needs some heat in the winter it was very cold and uncomfortable. Overall my last experience was not a good one so I will not be going back to patronize Ms Tootsies.

A friend and I decided to try this restaurant for the first time. As soon as we walked in, we saw that the atmostphere was beautiful. However there was something wrong with the door and the wind cause it to fly open. A waitress with short hair says to us " Uh could u close the door pls??" without saying hello, how r u or anything. The male host was extremely lifeless and rude... The candles on our table were'nt lit so he came n took them off the table while my guest and I were talking, WITHOUT explaining what he was doing or saying excuse me. Our waitress was nice and the food came out promptly. The mac n cheese was saucy but good, the string beans were delicious. The fried whiting could have had bigger portions, could have been seasoned better, and it was full of bones which I feel should have been told either verbally or written on the menu. Its very uncomfortable eating n takn bones out of ur mouth every 2 minutes. The staff gives off a very snooty vibe and Id only go back for the food. Oh, and the tables were very wobbly, we thought our drinks would spill and we would drown any minute!!

The food was SPECTACULAR in a booming atmosphere of great service. This was my first visit and I really enjoyed myself. I will visit many more times.

I wasn't sure what to make of my visit from reading th reviews, but I have always been one to try and see things for myself before making any snap decisions. Upon entering the restaurant I was impressed by the decor and the ambiance. The interior was absolutely beautiful and the staff and the people who came to dine or just for drinks were just as beautiful. Although I was impressed by the decor, I wish that was the case for their service. As soon as my boyfriend and I arrived we were told by the hostess there would be a hour and a half wait. I didn't like that! We had almost left at that point, but after hearing so many good things about the food, we decided to wait. An hour passes and we receive a call to let us know our table was ready and we had 10 minutes to get there or our spot would be lost. I didn't like that either! As soon as we sat down, the conbread arrived, which was on point, but the half hour wait for food was not a good look. Never have I sat down in a nice wstablishment such as this and waited for this long. Finally, the food came and it was time to get down to business, I had no complaints.

I Traveled to Philly from Baltimore on a special occasion with friends and someone suggested Ms. Tootsie's restaurant as a good Soul Food choice. The only good thing about the experience was our wait time to be seated and the overrall decor of the restaurant. The waitress was not familiar with the menu at all and gave attitude when we asked questions about menu items, we had to request refills, after waiting about an hour for our entrees we had to wait several minutes to receive utensils. I ordered a fried fish dish with two sides one of which was the green beans (EPIC FAIL) the green beans tasted like salt and were inedible my fish dish was over seasoned as well, the complimentary corn muffins were burnt at the bottom, One friend ordered fried wings and a Waffle and his chicken was undercooked. I am sorry to say that I will not visit this restaurant again.

How could I forget the amazing homemade Tea! The only problem was that the food took a lil too long to come out. Other then that I enjoyed myself!

My 2 best friends and I made reservations for dinner. The restaurant opened at 7p and our reservation was for 730p. Nonetheless, they had not prepped any food so when we arrived we there was already a large party seated . The kitchen was so backed up and we were sent on the bar side(oh yeah I was 6 months pregnant) where we waited for an hour for reservations we made for 730p. After 5 pieces of watermelon we were finally seated and served at 9pm. The string beans were so salty I spit them out and the fish was disappointing. I was offered a free desert but not allowed to choose . The waitress brought out a slice of coconut cake of which I am allergic. Right! It seems they put more emphasis on upgrading the bar than maintaining good, quality food. I will never go back here because on top of slow service and poor food the waitress went word for word with me when I was spending my MONEY. Go back to the drawing board...oh yeah but, you will always make money off your BAR.
