I use to have the lunch at Samosa quite often and I always liked their buffet menu. However, today I had the feeling to eat some different Indian food. I ordered Masala DOSA and it was the poorest Masala Dosa in my life. It was burnt, oily (old oil - I could taste) and the filling was made of POCHA (the filling should be made of potatoes).

I know and love Indian food. I have struggled to find it in Philly but New Samosa really delivers. The food is straightforward relatively healthy vegetarian food. The buffet is the best lunch deal in center city. Also: they do dosa which you can't find anywhere else.

New Samosa's service gets worse every time I go. Heaven forbid you want something that isn't on the buffet (that includes water), because you may not get it. They have just about abandoned their menu, walk-in customers ordering from their new lunch counter get served before dine-in customers (regardless of the order requests came in). The food, however, is great. I have always enjoyed the dishes I have tried from their menu or buffet.

I had been scared of Indian food until my friend made me go to new samosa vegetarian restaurent.. What a beautiful place. The food and service were awesome! they also have nice buffet every day changing iteams lots of dessert go thereand enjoy

This seems to be one of the most underrated places in Philly. How can a place that serves so much variety, healthy simple Indian meals at such low beyond-belief prices get overlooked so often? I see other new places now touting healthy and home-cooked, yet this place has been quietly and humbly doing so, for far less than those places advertise for. This is the place, where at 4.99 buffet all you can eat, I can have their variety of salad alone with a little raita.. and sweets- and feel I'm getting a feast at a steal. But the food is far more than that.. it is incredibly healthful and simple style Indian cooking. For vegetarians wanting to skip the super-spicy greasy Indian foods and opting for the healthy end, this is the most incredible place ever!

I don't know why people aren't rating this place higher. I go to the vegetarian places in Chinatown and the "meat" they use just pales in comparison to this. I ordered Lamb Korma and Lamb Saag here and the lamb is just excellent. Perfect texture. I could even split the meat with a fork and see the shreds inside. My partner thought I was hallucinating but I gave her a piece and she was totally impressed. It's my new favorite place and I've eaten at hundreds of restaurants in the area.
