Old Original Bookbinder's

First let me say I never write these kind of reviews but I felt compelled. I went to Bookbinders last night with a group of co-workers for resturant and I went in with low expectations. I have heard of Bookbinders my entire life so I expected straight up seafood done in a classic boring way..boy was I surprised. The food was amazing! The portions were more than generous and unlike Le Bec Fin you can tell they did not reduce the quality of their food for the resturant week menu. Great job Bookbinders!

The cuisine was excellent (Lobster - Smoked Salmon),as was the service and atmosphere. We were very satisfied with our experience at Bookbinders CC Philadelphia. We will definitely return in the near future. Staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and insured that we were comfortable at all times.

All of my experiences at Bookbinders have been nothing short of wonderful. Whether I went for an intimate dinner, attended a party or hosted a work function, the service, food and spirits were top notch! The seafood is absolutely the best. I highly recommend the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, you won't believe the size of the shrimp! On my last visit, I had the sword fish which was perfectly prepared. I recommend that you save room for dessert! The wait staff is friendly and attentive. I look forward to my next visit!

Did we eat at the same restaurant? I have eaten at BB 3 times recently (one large business group, one romantic dinner and once with girlfriends.) All good. The portions were generous and the seafood as fresh as fresh could be. The wine list is extensive with good value. My special requests were accomodated with little fuss (ok, I AM picky.) The desertsespecially the chocolateare almost too pretty to eat but were delicious. Generous portions. Not cheap but worth every penny. (IN a funk? try champagne and oysters at the elegant barworks like a charm!)

Out of town guests requested dinner at Bookbinders because they had heard such great things about it. Our server was rude (or he thought he was being funny) and the food was mediocre at best. All the filets were extremely undercooked - a medium filet came out rare, the crabcake was horrible and the peanut butter pie tasted freezer burn (the crust) and it came out with unripened fruit on top of it. Drink orders took almost 15 minutes and there were less than 10 tables in the entire restaurant. This was our 3rd time at the restaurant and we won't be back again.

Atmosphere and service was top notch food was great as well a little bit pricy. Snapper soup was the best I have ever had, hands down.
