Simply put, the best sandwiches in the city. Tasty, oily, piquant, honest. Served by two hipster weisenheimers working the grille and the counter. It's tiny, but I have always snagged a seat. Flavor bomb alert. NOT good for dieters! But worth the fall from grace.

This is an area I normally wouldn't frequent, if not for my musician (starving artist) son, residing in Fishtown, who took me there recently. Now I wish I could eat there every day! Paesanos is simply AMAZING. A little hole in the wall, with the most interesting combination of ingredients and tastes of hot and cold sandwiches. (did not try the soup yet). For $ 8 you get a huge and satisfying sandwich, I only could eat half at the counter yesterday, and the other half for lunch today. The service is swift and very personable, a real uplifting experience, in the middle of nowhere. A real draw to up and coming Fishtown!

I had high hopes for these sandwiches, I heard alot about them. My girlfriend got the lamb sausage sandwich and I had a liver sandwich. The sause onbthe sausage was way too sweet and it is all you could taste, disappointing because if I could taste the other ingredients it would probably have been decent. The Liver sandwich was not good at all, the liver was overdone and too chewy, we could not even finish it. Maybe the other selections are tasty, but steer clear of the two we had.

Tiny sandwich and soup place, an outgrowth of Modo Mio, a really excellent Italian restaurant which is across the street from Paesano's. Modo Mio is amazing, but I can't often spend $40 on dinner. Solution? Paesano's! Sat at the counter and had the chickpea sandwich and the soup of the day, which was a creamy tomato and lentil. Soup was wonderful, sandwich was very good, they gave me some free coffee, and the whole meal was six bucks. Real and good food, made from scratch right in front of you, reasonably priced. What's not to like? Friendly service, too.
