No longer BYOB
It is worth noting that Pico de Gallo is no longer BYOB. As for the food, I was generally unimpressed. The fish tacos were good but much different than what I expected from my fish taco experiences out west. I also order the black bean, cactus, and portabello mushroom burrito. The cactus seemed undercooked and the burrito didn't have much flavor. I commend Pico de Gallo for making their tortillas but the one that wrapped my burrito wasn't great and fell apart easily. Sitting outside along South Street, along with the laid back and friendly waitstaff, was definitely the highlight of the dining experience. I'm new to Philly and haven't experienced great Mexican food in the city - yet. I know it is out there but unfortunately Pico de Gallo isn't it.

buen provecho
Many of the positive and negative comments I've read so far ring somewhat true: The restaurant is tiny and crowded, the waitstaff can be flighty, but are very friendly and sweet, the food may be priced on the high side for taqueria fare, and the margarita/jarritos de limonada can be hot or miss. But one thing is indesputable. Their carnitas are excellent, their mole is pretty darn good, and their tortillas are spot on. Those chefs in the kitchen are Mexicanos, and I'll pay a little more to get consistency in my meals. It's almost like being back in San Diego, during the summer anyway, when you eat here. And it's fun to eat here.

What's a restaurant without their best dish??
So, I went to Pico de Gallo for the first time a couple of months ago. I had the Shrimp Ranchero and it was to die for! I mean it was soooooo good!!! The host informed me that it was a really popular dish and I completly understood why. I couldn't wait until I could dine here again. Last week I came in with my mind set to get the infamous shrimp ranchero. To my astonishment, they stopped selling it! I requested something else that was similiar and there wasn't anything. So I opted to try something different. I had some sort of fahitas and the sauce that it was sopped in was unappetizing! the margaritas were okay.

Awesome
Love the food, great price, cool atmosphere. Only prob is that the margaritas are hit or miss.

not worth it
so the atmosphere is what you are really paying for and that isnt even that good, you are basically sitting on your neighboring table's lap. with a messy plate of beans and rice on your plate

Great food good price
The home made tortillas are worth the trip alone! Fun atmosphere. Service is a little slow, but the food is great for the price. Plus, did I mention the home made tortillas?!?

An Awesome Place!
If you are ever in Philly you gotta stop here. Though the restaurant is small, that just adds to its quaint atmosphere. The food is amazing especially their Chimichangas. Their home made Lemonade, Limeaid, and Iced Tea are great, and they come in large portions! Cutest place ever!
