    Good food, dirty & worn interior

    Had dinner there this week with a party of 10. I've dined there several times since they opened. Initially, the novelty of the interior design really contributed to the overall dining experience. Now, the place is dirty and worn- even visible with the dim nighttime lighting. The "Pod" our party occupied was dirty and worn. Some of our dishes/utensils were not clean. The bathrooms were atrocious. If this were a local chinese restaurant, one could overlook these shortcomings. But you'll pay 500$ plus for a large party such as ours here. We did not drink and had some light eaters so our bill was not too big. The service was ok. There were a few lapses when we waited too long to order, never received a beverage menu, waited too long for bill. Also, a few of us had to move our chairs in every time the server walked around our table to make room. The food was mostly good to very good. --Certainly not worth the prices when the physical plant is in such sad shape. We felt like we grossly overpaid for only good- very good asian food. My advice to Pod: You need a new general manager. Someone who is willing to "drive the boat", especially as it relates to repairs and cleanliness-- But also to sharpen up the servers. Kitchen: make sure that you distinguish your menu offerings in a way that conveys luxury (and your servers know how to highlight this) -- at your prices this is important. Either that or close and reinvent.

    Dined last night and everything was delicious !

    The service was prompt and great. I could find no fault with it. My husband gushed with pleasure at all the courses of our fixed price meal. (Limited time only). Noisy, yes after a while...go early. Shushi fresh and tasty....dumplings plump with horse radish sauce ..salmon cooked just right .....And chocolate cake or sorbet with all the tantalizing flavrs you can imagine. We will return soon.

    What happened

    Way down hill. And what happened to the wasabi mustard lamb chops. Your new items are no good. To loud. Food untasty. I would agree. I have been 30+ times. I wouldn't return. This was the last straw.

    What happened?

    We have been enjoying pod for about twelve years and it has had some ups and downs with menu changes. Until now it was always at least edible. It was absolutely horrible this time. The fried rice is not fried and tastes more like a risotto. The"vegetable" stir fry consists of bean sprouts, scallions and mushy tofu. The karaage is the most disgusting heavy sugary breading we have ever tasted. They took away all the colored Martinique and the inexperienced bartender could not recreate them. Stephen Starr, did you forget or give up on your old favorite, Pod? We will!

    Short ribs are amazing. Sushi is great. Drinks are strong and good. Don't go there if ur cheap & like big portions though.

    Neat Atmosphere!

    I am a college student and went with some friends to Pod, and loved it! It was quite expensive, so it is one of those special occasion places, but it has a really neat atmosphere. It is underground, with small windows, but everything inside is white, and the lights are all colored, making a fun combo. We did not have the service issues that someone else had spoken of. Our waitress was really friendly and helpful. I will return at some point... when there is extra cash in the budget to splurge. :)

    has gone SO downhill

    This place USED TO be one of my favorite restaurants. More recently, it has become a hangout for college kids. You can imagine the noise! The wait staff is extremely indifferent to your concerns. It seems as thoughh the chef became obsessed with choppingg scallions for the miso soup because the soup was in definite scallion overload. Our waitress ignored our comment about this with her face practically saying "Either you eat it or you don't. I couldn't care less." The dumplings were cold. Needless to say, I won't be going back there any time soon. I should have known when I saw the sushi bar practically empty. I have NEVER seen that.
