I live in the neighborhood, and since there isn't much around, I really want this place to be good. It isn't. And yet the reviews on here rate it higher than some of the acknowledged best places in Philly. A better burger than Pub & Kitchen? I doubt it. Better atmosphere than Amada? Who are you kidding? Here's the real deal: this is a neighborhood bar with visions of grandeur....that go unrealized. It's a big square room with tables jammed up against one wall. Totally devoid of atmosphere (and in the winter, because there is no foyer, when someone opens the door, the entire place gets a blast of cold wind). The staff huddles together at the end of the bar and tends to ignore the patrons. If they cooked up food as good as they do reviews, this would be a great destination. As it is, it's just a sad little bar in a run-down neighborhood.

Food and beer selection is awesome, delicious, and affordable! The regular menu is great, but I am always drawn to the daily specials...unique and tasty! Service is great, very nice and positive! Try it, it is really good! Luckily I work aroumd the corner!

The appetizers were better than the entrees. We had the fried stringbeans which are amazing and the mussels also very good. The main entrees though were lacking something. It seemed a little under seasoned. I had the BBQ ribs. They were mushy and bland. The German Potato salad was definitely not German! I've been there. Regular ho-hum.

I usually don't eat burgers when i go out to eat because they seem so cheap and thrown together. but for some reason i was in the mood for one that night. Words can't explain how awesome that burger was. i split it with my girlfriend and i still felt full after just eating half. When another group sat next to us i told them they don't even have to look at the menu, just tell the waitress you want the burger! and they took my word and they felt the same way, they all loved it. I would definitely take another trip down to the city just to eat and hang out at the taproom!

This is defintely my new favorite spot. Great beers on tap and the food is delicious! You have to try their green bean fries, they are out of control! If you're not close to the area it's really worth the 5 dollar cab ride.
