I have to tell you about my experience with best of phily Hot Chocolate and RIM Cafe this summer. I was on my way to Geno's for my favorite cheese steak in South Philly, and I asked the guy working at Geno's where is the place where I can get the Best of Philly hot chocolate. He smiled and told me it was only one block down at Rene's French coffee shop. I took my cheesesteak from Geno's and headed down to get some hot chocolate. What a surprise, Rene was not there and the place was closed for vacation. With nothing to do, but eat my steak, I noticed that Rene is quite a popular man in South Philly. He has a photo of Governor Rendell congradulating him on his Best of Philly Hot Chocolate, which really made me curious about this guy Rene who everyone seems to know as the exocentric Frenchman.. Can you believe he said, this guy gets best of philly hot chocolate and leaves for a lengthy vacation. I guess the Europeans really know how to live. He's been gone almost the entire summer now. But, I spoke to a good friend of his that said he will be back next week. My curiosity was peaked, so on my next visit to Geno's, I stopped in to see if Rene was back. And he sure was back. I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed my half hour stay with him. This man is about as unique as they come. He been here for only about one year and already he's made thousands of friends. While I was there, people kept coiming in and letting him him know how much they missed him and how glad they were to see him. It was really amzing sight. I cannot tell you that I ever experienced such warmth from a stranger. And I have not even talked about his hot chocolate yet. so let me tell you about it now. First I will tell you it is the best hot chocolate I ever tasted. And, second, it could not have been made with more love and feeling. Rene loves his work and he really loves his customers. And I can tell you now I understand why they all love this Frenchman who sings Italian Godfather songs while he makes his drinks. Forget all those franchised places - whatever happened to the mom and pop shops that were all so dear to us and yet we only have them as memories. Thank GOD for RIM for letting us relive the nostolgia of the 50's in the heart of Geno's cheese steak country. I recomment hightly that you visit Rene and ask him to make you his latest chocolate craze - the VOLCANO. :).

I cannot tell you how good the hot chocalate is here... and real bargain compared to other places... I had the desert crepe last week, and I can only tell you it is better than a donut. My friend enjoys their white chocalate the best and all the photos of Nice and Cote d'Azur, the French Riviera are a special addition. Try it if you are looking for an alternative to the usual coffee house.
