Roxborough Seafood House

Mussels were not over cooked and the sauce was just right. Cole slaw a nice complement. Shrimp hugh, tender and done right but a little more seasoning would take then to a new level. Bartender presented well and looked great. Service for takeout was fast and correct. Will return and tell others.

I wrote the review titled "Pleasantly surprised" after my husband & I first visited because we had a wonderful dining experience that night (the food & service were excellent), but we have been back a few times since and it never lived up to the first time. In fact, it got progressively worse each time we went there. On our 3rd visit, we found that the menu had changed. I believe it was supposed to be larger and more diverse, but the items that we liked were no longer on the menu, the specials were gone, and the quality went down and the prices went up. The final time we were there we ordered the seafood feast for two for $35, and it was not good at all. The mussels and clams were not fresh and we couldn't eat them. The corn was overcooked and soggy; I took one bite and left the rest - it was the worst corn I have ever eaten. Instead of getting the whole shaker when we ordered a martini at happy hour (which filled the glass twice), we only received a single martini in a small glass and it wasn't very well made. The draft beer prices had gone up as well. The staff were no where near as knowledgeable, helpful, or experienced as the waitress and bartender were on our first visit. And a man that we were told was the owner came through and greeted many of the customers but totally ignored us. We were very disappointed in every aspect of our meal and we have not been back and do not plan to return!

I have been in the roxborough seafood house a few times. I have found that the staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a huge array of inexpensive liquor and the food is great. What more could you want on a night out!? I was curiouse what other reviews looked like and was really disapointed to see the last review on here. How do a few red potatoes and a salad match up, and I'm missing the parsley thing? I was a server when I was younger and it sounds to me like they bent over backwards for this person and they're still not happy. Also the last time I was there they had a different menue, similar, but expanded, maybe that was why the waitress was a little unfamiliar with the menu. I do think the place is a little tight, but has a good atmosphere along with outdoor seating and a full bar. I absolutely encourage people to check it out, I personally think it's a really likable spot.

Waitress was unaware of menu. Had to ask her for melted butter which always come with certain seafood meals. I requested parsley for my water and received flakes. Requested a salad instead of potatoes and was charged $5.00 for the salad without knowing until I received the bill. Must only have one dressing because I was never given a choice. The salad consisted of only lettuce and tomato. The tomatoes were diced extremely small. Some of the tomatoes were spoiled. For me it was an awful experience because I actually looked forward to spending my afternoon in celebration with friends. At best, it is a low rated fast food joint. Hopefully this notice will alert them to bring up their standards.

After reading reviews about this restaurant on a number of websites that ranged from 1 Star to 5 Stars, my husband Michael and I had no idea what to expect. But on a stormy Tuesday evening we decided to give the Roxborough Seafood House a try anyway since the restaurant is within walking distance of our house and they finally began taking credit cards. We really like seafood so we were really excited when this place opened, hoping there might finally be a decent place in the neighborhood for fish. We walked there at 5 pm (happy hour) and we are happy to say that our experience at was excellent. We entered in the bar area and were greeted immediately by Mike the bartender, who let us know we could sit anywhere we wanted. We chose a booth in the bar area and our waitress Sabrina immediately came over with the martini menu (so many varieties at less than $5 each at happy hour). Michael ordered a "Super Storm" which was enough to fill the martini glass twice and was delicious as well. I order Sam Adams Summer Ale on draft, which was fresh, cold, and only $3.75 per pint. We started with an "Anthony Salad" to share (which was only $5), and the kitchen split it for us. The salad included lettuce, onions, olives, garbanzo beans or chickpeas, and gorgonzola cheese with a delicious red wine vinegarette and was served with a complementary basket of bread. For our main course we each ordered one of the specials of the day: I had sauted tilapia with sun dried tomatoes and olives with a side of roasted red bliss potatoes and Michael had the seafood medley, which was mussels, clams, and shrimp served over penne pasta in a butter garlic sauce. The seafood was fresh and delicious and the entrees were only $9 each! Sabrina was attentive throughout our meal and Mike was friendly as well as knowledgeable about the food, the drinks, the bar, the neighborhood's history, etc. All in all, it was an enjoyable evening and the meal was one of the best we've had in some time, especially considering the price! I highly recommend the Roxborough Seafood House! We will definitely be back!

The place is quaint. The menu is not the best especially to be a seafood restaurant. they don't serve scallops lobster tails, steak, or cooked veggies. All in all, the drinks are good and the staff are nice. Would love to see more variety on the menu.
