Ah, the Royal Tavern. Though not the first gastropub in Philadelphia (Standard Tap) Royal has climbed up to the top of the rankings, and I do believe it is every bit as good as Standard Tap, if not better. The food is always superb, and if the already diverse & exciting regular menu doesn't grab, their nightly specials surely will. Plenty of great vegan options too. I have had everything on the menu, but my favorites are: The Royal Burger, Meatloaf Sandwich, Pan Fried Gnocchi, and Caesar Salad (polenta croutons!) There is usually a nice selection of draft beers, though they tend to feature Philadelphia Brewing Company far too often. Their bottle list is nice, although slightly overpriced. The true bargain here is the food. Nowhere else will you find ingredients this fresh at a price this good. I cannot recommend this place enough. Take it from me, I've been there probably a thousand times.

Royal Tavern has great, pretty cheap vegan and vegetarian meal options, good, though a little on the expensive side, beer and a nice atmosphere. It's really small and loud at night, but the servers are fast and the food (at least the vegan stuff) is really good. A really nice neighborhood spot.
