Unbelievable
Ok- so this place is fairly new-and hard to discern if the reviews you read are for a place in NE philly or in richboro-- they are (were) the same place- the new location is in Richboro, Bucks County-- We went (2 couples) on a Friday in late march 2009 - and we were met and promptly seated. There ~are~ bread plates now. We all opted for the prix fixe-- an unbelievable deal--35$ for 4 courses (app, salad, entree and dessert) and being a BYO--this place is a great deal. the apps were very tasty, well seasoned and perfectly cooked- we had the scallops, two gnocchi and one braised pork with house made pasta (wider than fettucini) and they were all raved about at the table. the salad was a nice mesculin mix with a basic vinaigrette, apples and blue cheese. one at our table said tbhat their salad was salty--but ours were not-- i assume that the greens were not mixed well enough and the one alty one just got too much seasoning . the entrees were well above average as well-- one veal chop, one red meat (forget the name) and two fish of the day--hawaiin butterfish poached in tomato-- again-- all were outstanding the desserts were good, housemade- but nothing extra ordinary-- but certainly well made and a perfect ending to an unexpected and memorable meal we will certainly be back- about the service- it was attentive, a food allergy was remembered and the water and bread remained full at all times. in short- i was blown away by this unnassuming place in a strip mall in richboro-- you will not be disappointed

just as good as any center city B.Y.O
Went there couple weeks ago and it was great. Had the truffle rissoto and my wife the braised rabbit with fresh pasta infused with garam masala. the salad was a touch, wild greens with walnuts and pears. and for entree i had the miso wahoo that was superb, the play on sweet and savory was amazing. My wife tried the sous vide chicken, the chicken was very tender with crispy skin and serve with swisschard, purple fingerlings and truffle jus. and all of this for only $70 with dessert (carrot cake with cream icing ice cream and bacon ice cream with french toast)

i love value for my dollar
we had the pre-fixe a hard to grasp how they do it value. our bill was about $65.00 after tax for two. we brought our own wine. the next night we dined at the standard tap- $30.00 for 2 including a couple of exceptional beers. the tap is special.-but i will save my money and go to rylei 1/2 the time.

Who needs center city with Rylei in NE?
I could kick myself for waiting a year before going to this Wonderful BYOB addition to Mayfair. After eating at Rylei, you can tell the chef takes pride and pleasure in preparing gastronomic experiences. I am making this our place to bring out-of-towners and new friends. Our meal consisted of the following: Pre-fixe Menu @ $30 for me: -choc. ling. w/ mushroom ragu = a bit salty, but full of flavor -salad =just enough for taste -coconut sorbet [[[]]intermezzo[]] =a nice touch -seared duck breast w/ baby bok choy atop a potato pancake = cooked perfectly: med. rare, moist, crispy skinned =perfect -roasted plum cake =served warm, sweet enough, but not too sweet = perfect For her: Pre-fixe -spinach ravioli filled with homemade ricotta [[[]]smooth as butter[]] =absolutely delicious -filet mignon tails w/ onions and mashed potatoes [[[]]cooked perfect med. rare[]] nice crust outside and moist and tender inside -salad -intermezzo -chocolate mousse cake -oooh so sweet and soft mousse with a crunchy toasted chocolate crust Service was nice. Atmosphere was clean and not overdone .Food was fan-freaking-tastic. Perfect portions and timed appropriately. Along with our BYOBottle of wine, you cannot beat this. We both walked away satisfied/ bordering on stuffed. We will definately make this a once a month dining spot. If we had more places of this caliber in Mayfair. I live just around the corner -walking distance, I wouldn't have a reason to go into center city. You Must Go!

best byob in philly
Went there the other night, and for $30 had four courses. I don't know why laban gave it two bells, this place a three bell restaurant. And the chocalate pasta with mushroom ragu was amazing!

Gives Mayfair some class!
We dined at Rylei a few weeks ago & I can't wait to go back. Had the seared scallop appetizer, simply delicious. The crabcakes were all crabmeat and even the little salad b/t app & entree was fabulous (included thinly sliced apples, nuts & just the right amount of vinagerette). They even served a granitas to cleanse the pallet between courses...haven't seen that in years! The proprietors surely know what they are doing, and for a $30 pre-fixe during the week, it can't be beat. The decor is stark, but in a classy way, which lends a serene, romantic atmosphere. I hope this place catches on, given the working class neighborhood it is situated in. I would highly recommend it and feel you get a lot of bang for your buck. Give it a try my Northeast friends, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Great neighborhood place
Tried Rylei for a birthday dinner I was throwing for my mom. Great experience and great food. At $30 for a 3-course fixed price meal, it was a great deal, also. I had the gnocchi appetizer which was light, delicious and really well done. The mushroom ravioli and seared foie gras apps went over well at the table also. They serve nice warm crusty bread from Gino's bakery right next door, and use lots of local produce. My entree, a braised lamb shank, was delicious and falling-apart tender, although the seared duck breast my mom got was a winner. The cream-cheese mousse with roasted pears was insane for dessert, and the homemade cakes were delicious also. I really hope that this place catches on in a big way since it's really unique for the neighborhood, and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes BYOB places downtown - Rylei can hold their own with the best of them.
