Poor
I ordered take out from Shiao Lan Kung last night for the first time based on the reviews I read here. What a mistake that was. First of all, I ordered 2 soups and only received 1 soup. I was charged for both! Secondly, the appetizers were full of grease and just plain poor. Our entrees were no better. Fish smelled terrible and the chicken was not fully cooked. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

The best and always will be...
I've been going to Shiao Lan Kung for at least 15 years and the food is always top notch. Like the person above has noted (well almost), I have only been dissapointed once, when they ran out of kan kung (ong choy to chinese and water spinach to us english speakers, though I'll always call it by the Filipino name). The ginger and scallion pork, soft shell crab, the big bowl of all seafood on the menu which is totally escaping me, the rice, the seafood beancurd soup (ask for no mushrooms unless you like straw mushrooms), the salt and pepper squid, kan kung with shrimp paste....The list goes on and on, I have never tried something here and not liked it. And no one who I have ever sent here has been disappointed either, no matter what type of person they are.

The best Chinese food I have ever eaten!
This is the best Chinese food I have ever eaten - and I grew up in NYC (which has, of course, fantastic Chinese food). You must try the Salt Baked Shrimp over some Pork Fried Rice. It is downright addictive. I'd love to give you a number of dishes to try, but I haven't gotten past the Salt Baked Shrimp yet... and it's been 3 years so far! :-)

Over 10 years of great food
Everything is always fresh. I have been dining in this restaurant for years. I have only been disappointed once. It was durung the winter and the head chef was sick so they did not open that evening. Pan Fried Dumplings, Sizzling Wor Ba, Salt baked Squid, Soft Shell Crabs, Clams in the black bean Sauce...Everything is great here.
