Square on Square

Based on the other reviews, I gave this place a shot for dinner today. What a mistake! Their chicken is the worst I've ever had: Grossly overcooked and somehow extremely dry and somewhat slimy at the same time. It looks like a used chew toy and tastes like what I would imagine a used chew toy tastes like. This "meal" cost me $11.50not $8.50 like Square on Square's own Web site says.

The food is pretty good. Attentive service was an added plus. Definitely a step up from your run-of-mill Chinese takeout.

A friend introduced me to this wonderful chinese restaurant a few years ago... and i've been a satisfied visitor since. I often take family [from out of town and wary of unknown chinese restaurants]. without exception they are pleased and want to return, or they become frequent guests on their own. The ambience is ok... not much more, but it is very clean and the service is excellent. but the food is the attraction and rightly so. It's always fresh, prepared and served promptly, and it has been so without fail. My grandchildren [all 7: ages 4 to 16 ] often request it, and 3 yrs ago i invited my family to a new year's eve dinner.. and the price is right.. and affordable. Nut the food and service is the attraction. I highly recommend it to anyone, some of the favorite entree's are: fried oysters, gen powell chicken, jumbo shrimp [12!] in black bean sauce with brown rice [tastier], and everything on the menu. Also - I have often requested a wonton/eggdrop soup and i've enjoyed it every time. Now the waiter just anticipates, as I wrote above: the service is excellent. Georges Perrier should have his waiters visit and learn what service is all about!

This is the freshest chinese I have ever had, and the people are great. I am surprised that I manage to get a table every time I go. To top it all off, they are BYOB! Wish they had a meal plan.

This is the best chinese food restaurant in Center City. I go there at least once a week for the delicious, fresh-tasting food and really welcoming and friendly service. Plus, they give you delicious almond cookies along with fortune cookies with your bill - a sweet finish to what is always a delicious meal.

Since this restaurant opened I have eaten here once or twice a week. Why? The food is consistent, fresh, reasonable and the service is the best. I am surrounded by restaurants yet I am comfortable here by myself, or with a large group,or family. It really counts when one goes to a restaurant to be welcomed. (We all know of expensive places with attitude!) Enjoy!

The service is prompt and very helpful. The take out is lightning fast and they are more than happy to prepare a dish that is not listed on the menu for you. This is one of the only chinese restaurants I have been to in the US that serves huge portions of food quickly, but with quality that is unmatched. The food is filling, but not heavy and the quality is outstanding.
