Stamp of approval from LA Mexican
I'm Mexican from L.A. (doesn't get more Mexican than that) studying outside of Philly, this is hands down the best Mexican food Ive found in the Philly area. The food is well priced and the portions are pretty big, the only problem with this cute hole in the wall place is that it's really small and it doesn't sit that many people. Once a couple of friends and I drove to this place and there was no sitting, we like the food so much that we ordered it to go and ate in the car. That's commitment y'all. The enchiladas verdes are my favourite.

Great food... But the service, Ehh.
The food was great! It would have been a lot better though if they had offered some sauce, or lime. The service was not good. It took forever to give us our over priced drinks! $10 for 2 people just for drinks. And when it came time for the check the waitress was standing there chatting with a co-worker for 5 min after clearing the table. But the portions of the food were decently sized. All in all it was good... I would only get take home though.

There is nothing like it; It's delicious
If you want some of the best authentic Mexican food you will ever taste, this is it. I grew up and still maintain a residence in Southern California. I have had Mexican from from all over the US and Mexico, and Taqueria Veracruzana is one of my favorite Mexican places. Their food is made with love and heart and you can tell. I don;t know any other way to explain it, but it's original and tasty. I recommend their cheese enchiladas, they use a special type of cheese, I believe it's queso chihuahua, but it's delicious. The Parillada Norteno - a plate of three different types of grilled meat - the chorizo is the best....Basically, anything you get here will be excellent, and they have mexican coke in glass bottles too...

Mmmmexican!!
Based on the reviews and the suggestions of some friends, my girlfriend and I tried this place today for lunch. Good call- she got an order of tacos, and a burrito for me. The only problem we had was not realizing how large an order we were getting, especially with the chips and salsa and adobo sauces, so we had to take half the burrito home. I definitely want to go back and try their breakfast menu.

So very good
I love Veracruzana more than I love my children. OK--I don't have children, but I am deeply enamored of Veracruzana's incredibly delicious and ridiculously inexpensive fare. Especially their variation on the quesadilla--soft tacos with cheese and lettuce and tomatoes (if you'd rather have your soft tacos with cooked onions inside and a side of lime, just order the tacos). The rice and beans, as well as the guacamole, are excellent also. Oh, and the service is never less than friendly, whether you're eating in or taking out, and the space is warm and inviting, if not gorgeous.

Superbest
Lord, how I wish I lived nearer to Veracruzana. As it is, I make the trip as often as I possibly can. The food is real Mexican and real awesome, especially the chorizo and carnitas tacos, the guacamole, the quesadillas (essentially tacos with delicious white cheese in them and lettuce on top--i.e., not Taco Bell quesadillas), the rice and beans, and the chips and salsas (which are free). The only dish that I'd recommend avoiding is the vegetarian burrito, which, while huge, is far and away the blandest thing on the menu. The prices are extremely low ($6 for three hefty tacos; about a dollar more for three monster quesadillas), the service is impeccable, and the restaurant and bathroom are spotless. When it comes to Mexican restaurants in the Northeast, you really can't do any better than Veracruzana.
