Really Disappointing, It's a Shame
Unfortunately, we had a disappointing experience. The prices were absurd, portions way smaller than "small plate" size and The service is just subpar, I hate to say it but we were ignored and snapped at. I really had high hopes.

Had high hopes
I was tempted to leave when there was no air conditioning, but had read good reviews. Prices were much higher than described ($$), and I did expect small portions (small plates), but this was ridiculous. After an appetizer and two entrees per person, we were still hungry. There was a 2.0 to 2.5 lb. whole lobster for $38. It seemed a relative bargain. What arrived was about a 5 oz. lobster tail, in a whole shell, on a bed of corn relish. When we complain that it was not as advertised we were told that most peolpe don't really like a whole lobster, so they only serve the tail. As for the claws, they use them for the sauce. We asked for a adjustment on the bill, and they offerred none. They did, however, offer to call the police if we did not pay the full bill immediately. We're regulars at the Tiffin, in Elkins Park, we we understand is under the same ownership, so we were particularly dissappointed. Want to be cheated and threatened? Enjoy!

An Amazing Twist on Indian Food
Went to Tashan last Saturday for the first time and wasn't sure what to expect. This restaurant does not serve "traditional" Indian fare. We would call the food Indian fusion and it is wonderful. From the moment we walked into the restaurant until we left we were treated to a level of service that was superb. The decor and atmosphere is wonderful, the waitstaff attentive without crowding you and the food magnificent. We especially enjoyed the Venison with a Rum and Black Plum Chutney. A nice surprise was that they offer Valet Parking for only $6.00. Their wine list is pricey and somewhat limited but we did find a nice Pinot Grigio that didn't ruin our budget. Everyone should try this restaurant -even if you don't like Indian food- you will be pleasantly surprised.
