    Great food, great value

Having only tried Indian cusine once at a friend's wedding we were dying to try it again. We had several recommendations from my husband's co-workers that this place was very good. We went on a Saturday night and were seated right away. Our entire party opted for the buffet as we were not entirely sure what we wanted and figured that was our best bet to try different things. Among our favorites was the chicken jalfrazie, chicken tikki masala and channa masala. These items are all on the regular take out menu. Some of our other favorites were dishes called allo baingan, an eggplant/potato dish and my favorite saag aloo, which appeared to be a mixture of spinach (or some sort of green) and potatoes in a delicious sauce. Unfortunately those two do not appear to be on the takeout menu but we wrote the names down anyway hoping that if we call they may be able to make it for us! The resturaunt itself is very homey and clean and the staff were friendly and willing to explain what was in certain dishes and sauces. The naan (Indian bread) was hot, fresh and delicious. Included in our buffet were also two desserts, a very sweet rice pudding (kheer) and an orange custard which has a great texture and flavor we could not quite place but was delicious. We paid $11 each for the buffet which is a bargain considering how much we have paid at other restaurants with not so great food. We are most definately adding this onto our regular restaraunt rotation!

    Taste of Mogul, NE Philadelphia

On 6/1109, we visited this restaurant in NE Philly to try their authentic Indian food...as it was a weekday, there was no crowd as expected...Nevertheless, the food was really great! We had Chicken Pakoras for appetizers and for the main course, we had some real good Chicken Biriyani & Lamb tikka masala. The food was exceptionally tasty, made to our level of spiceness, and included all kinds of other authentic indian ingredients. Overall, the service was great and we would give it a 9/10 rating...Although there was a bit of delay in the delivery of the food, it wait was well worth it though. Anyway, we definately will be visiting the place again.

    Great Take out Food

It is so hard to get different types of food around the NE. When this place opened up (across from sears) I had to try it. Most of the time it is a hassle to get Indian food because most of them are downtown. I got take-out and the chicken makhani was so delicious and there were huge pieces of chicken! I can't wait to dine there. This is a rare find in NE Philly.
