bland, heavy, characterless Indian food
I don't know if Tiffin used to be good, or if some of its outlets are better than others, thus explaining its good reputation, but I can tell you for sure that the food at the Mount Airy restaurant is pretty wretched. I am a big fan of Indian food, and have eaten at Indian places in New York, London, D.C. and Philly, as well as at the homes of Indian friends. Tiffin serves my least favorite Indian food of anywhere I've eaten. The samosas are barely edible: very dry and tough and thick dough outside, runny bland interior. The other dishes range from watery and flavorless to dry and flavorless--except when they are spicy, and then the only flavor is a harsh spiciness, with no depth or complexity. Because Tiffin has been our only nearby source of Indian (thank goodness another place is opening this fall), we have kept trying it on and off over the years, but are always reminded of why we don't bother. It's worth the drive to West Philly to have a decent meal.

So disappointed
I've been a faithful patron at Tiffin for the last several years. I lived in London and I know what good Indian food is about, and they served it up. But not anymore. Today I pondered calling Ekta instead of Tiffin because the last few months have offerd up watery Chicken Tikka Masala (in fact it tastes like dishwater), and burned Onion Bhaji. I decided to give it one last try, and couldn't have been more disappointed. I don't know what's happened, but I'm on the lookout for decent Indian food again!

Disgracefully Slow Delivery, Good Food
If you love Indian food, Tiffin has decent quality food, however be prepared to wait as long as two hours for delivery. Don't be surprised if they are disingenuously apologetic about their slow service. Bottom line: If you want decent Indian food and don't mind waiting two hours and reheating the food after it arrives cold, go with Tiffin, otherwise go with some of the better, more humble and quicker restaurants in the area.

Best indian delivery for center city but slow
Best indian delivery I have found in Center City area.., their Chicken Tikka Masala is very good... The food is good, the prices are okay, but it takes over an hour for delivery usually (which they tell you when you order)

A Disgraceful Dining Experience
Our first and last visit to Tiffin for takeout. The veg. samosas were heavy, doughy and dense-filled with chunks of bland potato and frozen peas. Miniscule portions of chicken drowning in a fat-laden sauce. Our "meal" was accompanied by containers of multicolored "sauces" used to create the impression that the customer is purchasing interesting food. Tiffen is an overrated and sub-par restaurant that overcharges for cheap, carbohydrate-laden food. Don't count on having Tiffin make ANY accommodations whatsoever for unacceptable food....you have a better chance of winning the Publisher's Clearinghouse Sweepstakes!! Our suggestion: Save your money. Instead of wasting $40, eat at home and prepare your own potato and pea casserole.

Awesome!
Delicious food- great service-even when they deliver they are almost to the minute on time. This is a wonderful restaurant with obviously talented chefs.

Delicious Indian
I have been here many times and the food is consistently excellent. I love the tikka masala and peshwari naan! The portions are spot on and everything I've tried has been delicious.
