you don't get what they say it is

Being a native of the Basque Country, when I heard about "pintxos" at Tinto I could not wait to go. Well, I went and ... food is not bad, but it isn't what they market it to be and therefore charge. Just one example: the chorizo de Pamplona they served as something special, is supermarket chorizo for making sandwiches. I could go on, but that should say it all. I don't mind paying for great food, but that night we simply paid!!

    Out of This World

I'd also like to address the other reviewers complaining of small portions. That is what tapas is! You should understand that going in. If you enjoy getting a large plate of food for yourself, this is not the place for you. If you'd like to sample many different flavors, and leave satisfied but not stuffed, then this is the perfect place to do it! They recommend 3-4 dishes per person. We got about 2.5 per person and were more than satisfied. For 4 people, with two of us getting cocktails, the bill came out to roughly $60/person including tip. To me, for a nice dinner out, that is a great value for the quality and flavor of the food, and the great service. "Out of This World" is meant to describe the flavors at this restaurant. Everything was so different, yet so tasty, especially the sauces. Each dish had a perfectly prepared star, and an amazing sauce to accompany it. The lamb skewer, the lobster, the duck, and the beef tenderloin stood out especially. The gazpacho was also outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant!

    Learn what tapas are!

This is just a quick and dirty review in response to the overwhelming "oh my god the portions are so small" reviews. Tapas are MEANT to be small thats the point, you get to try many different things. Yes its expensive but so are the ingredients they use to make them. I have been there 6 times now and every time we have been offered an explanation as to how tapas are ordered. The food is excellent, the menu changes seasonally and the service is great. If I had one gripe is that sometimes the plates come out too fast and might get cold as you talk, drink and eat the other plates that have already arrived.

    small but memorable

small plates are not my favorite, but tinto's are memorable, creative dishes. A real dining experience. Just a shame it's so noisy and crowded. Go at least once for the food.

Eat a snack before you go

I was amazed at how small the portion size was at this restaurant, and when I saw the bill I felt downright cheated. I had ordered the spanish meats (Charcuterie). they were cut so paper thin that you could easily read a newspaper through them. I asked for some bread to stave off hunger and they brought me 3 little pieces of bread in a ramekin...Im not kidding. The food was not that good, although the bill was jaw [drop]ping. If you want a light meal and dont mind a big bill, then Tinto is the place to go
