Ok
My mom always said you eat with your eyes not your belly. Walked in and was a bit distracted by the flies; the male and females were conversing and immediately stopped to say hi! A rare find in philly. As I have just returned from NC, I needed a good BBQ , so I tried it. The BBQ sauce was a bit watered down and the hockey puck baked Mac hmmm different. Overall, not bad at all. I'd return but I just can't get the swarm of flies out of my mind:(

Great BBQ
Awesome BBQ; Real BBQ in Philly, hands down the best in the city. Reminds me of BBQ in the South and in Texas. Love the Pulled Pork and Brisket.

Great Location and Top Notch Catering!
Take a top, high end caterer, drop the pretentiousness and add amazing, approachable BBQ... that's TommyGunns. They catered for my company picnic (about 400 people) and it was the best event we've had hands down. From set up to clean up, that team was right on Q! Make sure you order the deep fried mac, ribs and rib sticking brownies...

So Far So Great
This Texan thought there was no good Bar-B-Que in Philly. Famous Dave's almost made me throw up! Boy was I glad to encounter Tommy Gunns! From the moment I walked into the place and smelled what was cooking, I knew I would go home happy. The first (and apparently only) place in Philly that 1. Knows what brisket is, and 2. Knows how to Q it right. Now when it comes to price, they run a little high. But what are you gonna do? Supply and demand. In texas you are gonna pay $5 for a plate of Q, but you are also gonna pay $9 for a good hoagie (unlike $5 in Philly). Also, don't plan to sit. Room is limited, but I would sit if I had to. So yes, Tommy Gunns is great, but of course Tommy Gunns is not the best I have had (I'm a TEXAN!!!), but so far they are the best you can get in Philly. Cheers to you Mr. Tommy . . . and your Gunns.

Great, Consistent BBQ!
This is one of my favorite places since they catered my friends 80 person rehearsal dinner. I'm addicted to their Philly spare ribs with homemade sauce. Great prices too. Their cornbread is rockin' with bits of corn in it. Also, I am not a fan of collard greens, but my best friend loves 'em. Give this place a try, you will not be sorry! -Rufus
