New chef? Much improved!
Previously, my husband and I had tried Trio a number of times but were disappointed. We gave them one last shot at the beginning of this year and were totally surprised. The dishes are quite excellent now. They load the dishes with colorful, fresh veggies (which they definitely didn't do before). The flavors overall are very much improved. Before, I felt they were way too expensive for what was served, but now that the food is so much better, it seems more reasonable. My husband and I usually get takeout and have enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Our favorite dishes are the drunken noodles and the green chicken curry. Our only pet peeve is the size of the rice that comes with dishes. It's so itty-bitty teeny-tiny. Barely enough. Rice is so cheap that to pay $15 for a dish and not get enough rice is a bit infuriating.

addicted to drunken noodles
Trio is amazing. The decor, the food, the staff, the prices!!! The only sad thing is that I love the drunken noodles so much I NEVER order anything else!!!! The chicken satay apps are great with the cucumber rice sauce(ive tried to make it but its not the same), the spring rolls...everything is delish and the dinner portions are enough for dinner the next day! Trio is really a terrific place...

Excellant!
A cute little place with excellant food and service. The food is always fresh and made to perfection. The staff is very friendly and attentive. This is my favorite byo restaurant in the city.

Sooooo very very good !
Trio is the neighborhood restaurant I take my friends to when they want to come to my neck of the woods. I trust them because I've been going since they opened. I honestly love everything on the menu. They don't cut corners and I appreciate having this business in my neighborhood. They support so many Fairmount community events like the Fairmount Fling and Bastille Day. They are always there to make sure things are right. The pad thai is the best in the city as far as I'm concerned and lately I'm on a drunken noodles kick. They are addicting. Now I want them for dinner... Keep up the good work! Fairmount loves Trio!

Mediocre at Best
Ok, I have to say that I am disappointed in Trio. I love Thai food, and this is not a very good simulation of it. I know it is supposed to be, "fusion" but some things are just not a good idea. Eggplant and school cafeteria carrots (think french frie cut, and undercooked) do not belong in the Chicken Green Curry. The soups (Coconut lemongrass and the portabella's in coconut milk) are ok, but very watery. Also, they seem to use dried portabellas in the soup, which bothers me, as I'm paying a lot for fresh food. All that said, it is not bad in person. I have actually had a meal or two there that I've liked, although it is never the same twice. One time it's good,-ish other times, not so much. The delivery however, is definitely bad. We have ordered a few times (we kept trying!), with it being extremely hit or miss, usually miss. The portions are much smaller with delivery and the green curry...again...is almost entirely eggplant and carrots, with barely any sauce at all. I was very upset by this the last time we ordered, as it is quite expensive, and vowed not to do it again. It seemed to me that I was just getting leftovers, not freshly cooked food. It is very unfortunate because I truly am not that picky of a person (despite the above), and I love Thai food, almost any Thai food! The best Thai for my buck in Philly was definitely Chaleo, at 5th and Bainbridge. Their food was fresh, simple, consistent, and well priced. But alas, they were in a poor location and eventually closed. Trio is also very expensive. You won't pay less than $30-$40 for 2 people, with delivery. Usually closer to $40. The quality is just not there to support that. Even Craig laBan only gave them 2 of 4 stars. I really wish they would step up their game a bit. There isn't much in the Fairmount area of interest, and it would be nice if they could do a better job and make all of the residents happy. Get rid of those dreadful carrots and eggplant! And add some actual coconut milk to your coconut milk soup!

This place rocks!
I had been to Trio a few times before and really loved the food and atmosphere. When it came time to plan my wedding dinner, it was an easy decision to make. We had a small party, about 16 total. The owners went out of their way to accommodate us. They provided us use of their third floor special occasion room and even worked with me to create a menu that I wanted, even though the choices I made were not included in one of their standard packages. They even agreed to include one of the specials I had had on a previous visit that was so great, I couldn’t not have it at my wedding. The server, Shane, was extremely polite and accommodating. My friends remarked on how much they enjoyed the food and the room was perfect for our needs. I highly recommend Trio for anyone who would like a romantic dinner date, a get together with friends or even a special occasion event. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful, the staff was outstanding and the food was fabulous. One of the best BYO’s in the city.

None better than this quaint BYOB
Trio has become one of those neighborhood places that we residents like to keep to ourselves for fear that it will become overcrowded with people looking for a great meal at a reasonable price. Trio has been favorably reviewed by the top food critics in Philadelphia. From the warm hospitality of the owners and staff to the fresh orchids at your table, everything is designed to prepare you for an unforgettable dining experience. Start with an appetizer. I personally like the Beggar’s Pouches. Then move on to one of the listed entrees or some special dish from the kitchen. Every dish is a winner. There are always unique fish offerings done in variety of ways. Try Trio. You will want to return again and again. Bring your friends and your favorite wine since they are a BYOB.
