We had a gift certificate that was about to expire and decided to try. Food was just so so and not well digested by two of our group. The place was packed, so maybe an unfortunate experience, but we will not go back.

My fiance and I stumbled here on accident after moving downtown and it happened to be restaurant week. Having never heard of this place, we just blindly walked in not knowing what to expect. I ordered the seafood flatbread, the filet, and the oreo for dessert. Everything was amazing. We have since been back several times with friends and I always seem to get the filet and the oreo. The filet is set on a few pieces of asparagus in a red wine reduction topped with a slab of blue cheese butter. My fiance always gets the ahi tuna which is also amazing. The oreo is deep fried in a funnel cake batter on top of a scoop of vanilla ice cream with caramel syrup drizzled on it. Do your mouth a favor and go there at least once. The prices are typical for a decent CC restaurant (not really cheap) but the food is great and the service usually is too. Oh and they have a bunch of good girly drinks (also not cheap $10-$13) but they make them strong and usually have a few decent beers on tap for $5-$7

I am a cafe owner/chef in NYC and visit my wife's family often...they took me here once and I am hooked! This place is perfect, service, food, drink, everything is great.

I have been here twice and was blown away by the sheer quality, creativity, and culinary craftsmenship of every dish! Great atmosphere as well. Still though, the execution of each dish... The mix of flavors is perfect! Try it!

I am shocked by all of the good reviews for this place. I went here for brunch with some friends and it was disappointing. Maybe it's because we all know food very well and work in restaurants but the menu is very limited. The worst part was the service. Maybe it was because we were a table of 6 and the server knew she was already getting a 20% tip but it took over a half hour for her to even take our order and it was not busy, there were maybe 4 other tables. We waited an hour (oh yes we timed it) for our food, and there was no reason for the kitchen to be busy since there were barely any tables. The final straw was the food. It wasn't horrible but the seasonal fruit was way out of season and did not taste good. The lump crab benedict was bland despite the huge amount of fat that was on the plate, and the "filet" with herb scrambled eggs haha well maybe other customers wouldn't notice but it is not a filet at all....it is a flank steak cut to the shape of a filet, my friend and i asked for it medium rare and we received it medium well at best. I may sound like I'm complaining but I am generally lenient with restaurants because I understand what goes on behind the scenes however Valanni has no consideration for their customers from the service to the lies on the menu. Go to Jones for Brunch instead
