    Fantastic cuisine!

The family and I went to dinner here this evening and it's right in the middle of the Italian Market in S. Philly. Just a 15 minute wait to be seated without reservations for 6 of us. Waitress was nice and attentive but didn't "hawk" over us. Food was fantastic. Lasagna, baked ziti, manicotti were all excellent. The pasta HAD to have been home made and the meatballs were to die for. Do try the fried asparagus. The ice cream cake and coffee topped it all off perfectly. Highly recommended. We'll be going back again.

    What a mess!

I advise that if your not a local or know exactly what you want to eat the min your walk in.. don't bother going. Here how my night went. We were greated friendly man who then sat right away. Only then to have a paper meau that looked like it had water spilled all over it thrown at us. The waitress was rude when anwering any question. But fine we ordered food and then waited. The food came out kinda fast. My date food was not what was explained to her. So for my 50 bucks I rather go to a real restruant who enjoys my business and doesn't act like i've offended them by walking in the door. Ps. I paid for the full meal which is fine but an "I sorry for the troule would have been nice". Take your money elseware. so much for trying something new

    Always a Good Meal

I took my husband to Villa last week. I've been going there for many, many years. He actually used to be a police officer in the area and had never eaten there, much to my surprise. I introduced him to the Villa Salad, one of my all-time favorites. It takes me back to my teenage years and dining at Jimmy's Milan, the salads are almost identical from what I remember. I had the Mussel appetizer along with a small order of dry penne . It was AMAZING. I'm a small eater, but I somehow made that into 3 dinners for myself. My husband had a Spaghetti dish that I can't recall the name of but it was at the very top. It had seafood on it and the most incredible sauce. He actually said to me that he loved our waitress because she brought him that meal. The truth is, I've NEVER had a bad meal in this restaurant. I do think they're a bit on the expensive side and that only bothers me because I can't get points on my credit card because they only accept cash. I would eat there more often if I lived closer and went before 5pm so as to avoid the crouds. I've waited an hour for a table there in the past, but the food IS worth it!!

    Excellent, excellent and excellent

The food is exceptional, and outstanding. And I don't know what people are talking about when they say the waitress' are not very pleasant. Everyone we encountered there was extreamly friendly our waitress Lorraine was very, very pleasant and I must say so was everone else. Of course I know you can't please everyone, but the people that complained must just be miserable people to begin with. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a real good italian meal the gravy and meatballs are the best.

    Villa di Roma, Philadelphia

This restaurant is a classic and since its famous and good, the staff does not have to kiss ass to the patrons and its obvious when you go there that they like a regular customer that knows what they want. Now, its not for everyone but for those that love a good Gnocchi and might I add one of the best base sauces Ive had...its a must. The chicken Sicilian and Muscles are also perfection. Roasted peppers with bread is fabulous as well. Definitely a favorite of mine!

    Meatballs a MUST!!

Went to Philly with family. Wanted to experience the Italian Market. Parked in front of Villa and decided to give it a try. The garlic bread was melt in your mouth. The parm cheese was some of the best we have had. We ordered spaghetti and meatballs. Both the gravy and meatballs were mouth watering and we loved each bite!! We all agreed that the meatballs were the best we have had and we have traveled all over. We were all hungry and love Italian but it was really that good. We were there at lunch on Good Friday and were seated right away. The only surprise was that it was a cash only restaurant and I did not notice this as we entered. Luckily we had cash. We kicked ourselves all the way home for not buying some meatballs and sauce. They have them chilled and ready to grab as a take out item by the bar area. Definitely make the Villa a stop when you are in the area, you will NOT be disappointed.
